BSD, MHM, CNC, CNS
Nutrition Therapy Practitioner

My name is Jena Salisbury. I am a licensed clinical nutritionist who has worked within functional medicine for over a decade and I LOVE WHAT I DO 🙂

I’ve obtained two nutrition degrees, the first being a bachelors in dietetics from Western Michigan University (Go Broncos), the other being a masters in clinical nutrition from University of Sonoran. I obtained an additional masters in holistic health from Western Michigan University and an additional certification in clinical nutrition counseling from AANA. Obtained my licensing from ANA as a CNS, Certified Nutrition Specialist.

I am also a Reiki and Urevia teacher and have been practicing and supporting clients since 2012.

I am a mother of two amazing children and one doggy. We enjoy travel, food, friends, sun sets, hikes, camping, reading, and simply being with each other

I love this field of medicine and tapping into my clients innate healing wisdom; mentally, physically and emotionally.

After a few years in functional medicine, digging deep into research and creating programs I quickly came to realize that I could assist most people with direct, long term results if I focused on gut health.

I started putting the gut first and working with the team of physicians who are BIH and thyroid specialists tracking the wellness journey.

I was onto something and needed to share it with the world.

As a child I had been to many specialists for GI distress myself, hair falling out, constipation/diarrhea, bad acne etc and no doctor ever gave me answers. Seeing I could give the answers to my clients that they have been struggling with for years is an unmatchable feeling. I had to share this with the world. No one has to live in dis-ease. No one needs to feel defeated (even though I know that’s how you already feel going through the traditional western system). The system I have created here empowers your innate healing and aligns your mind, body and soul. It utilizes cutting edge testing and research that not even mainstream doctors know how to understand yet. From there I use precision nutrition to give your unique body what it needs.

I created Innate Clinical Nutrition to give people answers, a personal plan and their health back. It’s not just my business but it’s my calling.

The Team

Dr. Allen Y. Masry, MD, DFAPA, FASAM is Board Certified Adult and Addiction Psychiatrist. SJ Magazine’s Top Addiction Psychiatrist of 2014, Allen Y. Masry, MD, DFAPA,DAAAP, FACFEI is a New Jersey-based, board certified psychiatrist able to assist with both adults and children with many years experience working with inpatient and outpatient psychiatry.
My name is Allen Y. Masry, MD, DFAPA, FASAM. It is my honor to serve as medical director for Innate Medical Nutrition. Jena Salisbury has helped my patients on their path to recovery. She demonstrated a large depth of knowledge in function medicine, something I have an interest in as well. I have been practicing in the field of addiction psychiatry and adult psychiatry for the last 14 years. I have been elected president of the NJ branch of the American society of addiction medicine and am a distinguished fellow of the American psychiatric Association. Yet what I have found in all those years is that you have to treat a person holistically. I also come to realize there is strong relationship between gut health and overall well being. The GI system interacts with 90% of the brain neurons and 80% of the immune system. In addiction, the immune and neuron systems of the body are damaged from the direct effects of the illicit substances. Some literature would suggest that addiction can lead to damage to the GI system and cause what is called in laymen terms “Leaky Gut”. Jena worked with my client to help repair damage to their leaky gut and this led my motivated clients to heal mentally, physically and from damages of their addiction.

I was born in La Plata, the capital of the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina. When I was 15 I started acting school and fell in love with movement and the relationship between movement and emotions. That opened the door to massage and yoga. I enrolled in a massage school and Massage Therapy was my part time job for many years. One of my favorite childhood memories is the excitement and fascination I felt when learning new things about the world and life. When it was time to go to college I doubted between physical education and Biology, but eventually decided to enroll in the Zoology program and I got a B.Sc in Biology. I worked for a couple of years in research in Biochemistry/Biophysics (protein-cellular membrane interaction) and in 2003 I got a Masters in Biotechnology in Madrid. In 2005 I moved to Seattle. By then I was certain that despite my love for lab work and science i wanted to work for myself and follow my passion for holistic movement and bodywork. I got certified in massage (for the second time) at Brian Utting School of Massage and I completed my first 200 hr yoga teacher training with 8 Limbs Yoga Centers within the next couple years of arriving in the Pacific Northwest. I completed another 200 hr with Ana Forrest in 2010 and in 2017 I reached the 500 hr YTT level also with 8 limbs. In 2017 I got an Orthopedic Movement Specialist Certification. My gentle yoga classes are influenced greatly by what I learn in this training lead by a couple respected Physical Therapists and Feldenkrais Practitioners. I love getting to know different movement modalities and arts. I dance Flamenco and recently starting Pole Dancing. I have explored Animal flow and other body weight movement schools. Consciousness and meditation strongly interest me philosophically and spiritually. Living in Seattle is a continuous invitation to hike, paddle board, ski and being active outside. I like to do as many of those things as I can with friends, my two kids and husband.
